(Englewood, NJ – September 10, 2019) - Bergen Family Center has announced the rededication
of The Southeast Senior Center for Independent Living (SESCIL) at the historic Lydecker
Homestead in Englewood, New Jersey. Located at 228 Grand Avenue in Englewood, SESCIL
has been providing social services for seniors, 55 years and older, for more than 40 years.

“We want to open our doors to more seniors than ever,” said Mitch Schonfeld, President and
CEO of Bergen Family Center. “After SESCIL became a part of BFC in August, we wanted a
way to recognize this program’s great contribution to Bergen County and it’s seniors.”

The rededication, on October 6th, 2019 at the SESCIL offices, will feature a ribbon cutting at 1
p.m. and an open house and informal reception from 1:15 p.m. to 4 p.m. “We thought it would
be great to show families what programs we offer at SESCIL,” said C. Peter Croonquist, BFC
Board Chair. “This is a wonderful way to reach out to the community to show how proud that
SESCIL is now a part of the BFC family.”

“We have everything from belly dancing for seniors to language classes to Tai Chi,” said
Barbara Ryder Chair of BFC’s newly formed SESCIL Committee.

Founded in 1898, Bergen Family Center is one of the oldest not-for-profit agencies in the state of
New Jersey, and provides services for more than 5,000 toddlers, young children, teens and older
adults every year. Since 1978, SESCIL has been promoting and encouraging seniors to lead
active healthy lives through independent living, innovative social programs and outreach.

“You don’t have to be a senior to join us at our open house,” emphasized Ryder. “We’re hoping
that family members of seniors also attend so they can find out more about what we have to
    offer.”
